I had a 458 socom and thought it was great. Except feeding it... I finally decided to thin the herd and parted with it. I doesn’t do anything that my AR10 can’t do better and the ammo is cheaper. Weight wise they were pretty close.
I have a couple of different rounds I trust for defensive use.
In my glock 19, I use 9bple as primary load with back up mags loaded with Lehigh extreme penetrator. The change in ammo is because if I haven't taken out the threat in the first magazine, they have taken cover or are wearing armor...
I recently bought my first over/under. A FN browning superposed. Fixed choke IM/Full with 30 inch barrels.
I took it to the range and patterned it at 40 yards and the shot patterns from both barrels overlay one another perfectly. I can't wait for the turkey shoots this fall.
I have the speed six blued. I picked it up from an old friend who has since passed away. It was new in the box.
I've fired it a couple of times and it shoots great. Built like an anvil. I have to disagree on its ccw roll. I've tried numerous holsters and haven't been able to keep the gun...
I use 158 grain cast swc in my carbine for deer. Works well for me. I carry the same load in
My service six. Technically can't hunt with it, because of the 4 inch barrel. But who knows what happens in the woods when I'm carrying both. I've had end to end exits with the carbine. This was...
I've never hunted bear. I did spend 20 years in the army humping a heavy load and a heavy rifle over varied terrain.
Carry what you want and feel comfortable with. Keep in mind I said this when you are out in the hills. It may be comforting to have the rifle, but you are going to cuss...
I have a six inch Taurus Mod 65 and the 2 3/4 inch Ruger speed six.
Both guns are well made and reliable. The ruger is significantly heavier.
The model 65 is built on the same frame size as the S&W model 19/66. I bought it to hunt and it has brought home several nice bucks over the...
I own and carry both a model 38 and a 49. I've owned a bodyguard since I was in High school. My Model 38 traveled with me on deployments for 21 years in the army. I called it my ruck gun. I almost lost it during a shake down inspection at the end of the Gulf war.
I like my Ruger speed six. Its a nice accurate gun that can be used as a war hammer if things get up close and personal. I still carry my j frame 38 on occasion.
I have owned and carried snubs since I was 18. I like the
K-frame guns but I love my speed six. It shoots better for me and the weight helps with the recoil. I carry my Speed six as back up to my timberwolf when hunting using full power handloads.
The trigger is excellent as is the...
I can not answer this thread. I pray it never happens.
I have to wonder about the person posting this question. I have seen this question posted on several forums I read. Are you looking to gether intel on people or just stirring the pot to see what rises to the top.
I personally...
I pick up road kill deer and place along the fence row. It works real good.
I got in trouble with the wife trying out the cat trick. What I did was take one of our cats kittens. I put it in my havahart trap and tied a cord to the cage. That kitten cried for mommy and the coyotes came a...

I read here a post about a deer struck with an arrow. And a post about whooping like an Indian! And the post about razor...
I would not want any of the above they are all too heavy for my tastes.
My choice is a Ruger M77 international
Light weight and accurate.
A rifle does not have to weigh 13 pounds to be accurate.
