New carry gun - Sig P238

So far I like this gun a lot. It's a P238 in 380 auto. Need to test it more before carrying it, but so far so good. Very accurate. Little recoil. It's the all stainless steel HD model.

Purchased my first GLOCK last week.

Purchased my first GLOCK last week. It's a model 27 in 40 caliber, Gen 4, on consignment at a LGS. An LEO's backup piece, they tell me. Doesn't look like it was shot much. Came with 3 mags plus all the various back straps. I've never had a 40 S&W pistol, but have shot a buddie's 27 a few...

327 Federal is the best small revolver cartridge for defense

I'm coming to the conclusion the above is the true. Reasons: o The 327 Federal is a 21st century design and operates at higher pressure than other magnum revolver cartridges (e.g 357, 41, 44 Magnum). About 9000-10000 PSI higher. o The 327 Federal is new enough that no older, weaker guns need...

Anyone here carry a 9mm revolver?

I have an LCR 9mm, but have never carried it. Does anyone here do so? If so, which one? I'm thinking of putting it on my carry list when I next renew my CCW. Issues, problems, advantages?

    Model 60-9 Ported

Picked up my S&W Model 60-9 today. It's a 2" 357 Magnum. The gun is ported and says Mag-na-ported on the box label. Came with the box and brochures. I hope to get it to the range soon. From the date code on the box label, I think this gun was an early production unit from 1996. It has a...

    Lubricate the slide?

I recently acquired a 3913 9mm auto. I understand its important to lube the slide? What do you other 3rd generation Smith and Wesson people use?

New gun -- Smith and Wesson 3913 LS in competition

I'm thinking of getting in, as a total novice, to some type of competition. Perhaps IDPA in the CCP division. Is my 3913 Lady Smith a reasonable gun for this -- even though I'm not a lady? :) Of is there a better place to start? Dave

Got new (old) 3913LS out of jail -- Picture Time

Here is a picture of the 3913LS I purchased recently. Just got it from the 10 day waiting period. Will try to get it to the range soon.

New gun -- Smith and Wesson 3913 LS

Just bought a 3913 Lady Smith 9MM. Single stack, compact, with 8 round magazines. Probably won't carry it, as that job is covered by pocket carry J frames. Should be fun at the range. For some reason, an all metal gun appeals to me more than the newer poly guns. (BTW, I'm not a lady, but...

    New (old) Marlin model 39A

Recently got a Marlin 39A in 22 LR. This is my first 22 LR long gun since I was a kid. Mine was manufactured in 1956.

Just got my new (old) Smith and Wesson Model 650

The 650 is a J frame, 3", fixed sight 22 Magnum. It's my first 22 mag. Looking forward to getting it to the range this week. Let's see some more 22 mag handguns. :)

    S&W Shield -- 9 mm or 40 cal?

One of the few S&W semi autos that an ordinary person can buy here in California is a Shield. Plus they are on sale, available everywhere and come with rebates. I'm mainly a revolver person, but I'm thinking this might be a good time to get a semi-auto as a carry option. Question is, 9mm or...

How about a .32 caliber club?

.32 is my favorite caliber. It's easy to shoot, lite recoil, and accurate. And effective for defense with the right ammo. How about let's see some pictures of your .32 Caliber handguns. 32 ACP, 32 S&W, 32 Long, 32 H&R, and 327 Federal -- and any others I forgot. Here is a picture of my...

I just bought my first Nickel Smith & Wesson -- Model 442.

Found it in the consignment case at a LGS. I didn't even know they made 442's with Nickel finish. The serial number begins with CAC and it's a no-dash version. Also no lock. Probably from the mid 1990's. Now I have to wait 10 days for it to get out of the California jail.

The advantage of California weather and the joys of big revolvers

Earlier this week I went to the range to shoot a couple of carry snub revolvers. This time I took along an old S&W 28-2 I haven't shot for a while. That old Highway Patrolman was fun to shoot. I had forgotten how much fun it was to shoot full sized revolvers. So this morning I went into the...

Bought an LCR 327 Federal yesterday

I bought a 327 Federal LCR revolver from a private party yesterday. He said it had too much recoil for him. Arthritis problem in his hands. Only put three cylinders of ammo through it. I paid $460 which didn't seem too bad given I haven't seen a single one of these for sale in a California...

    9mm LCR vs. 357 LCR

I live in a state that requires carry guns to be listed on my CC license. And there is a maximum of three. I pocket carry at this point. The piece I carry most is my S&W 431PD in 32 H&R Magnum. It's a 6 shot and weighs only 13.5 oz. It's easy to forget you even have it in a pocket, and it's...
