115 vs. 124 grain for 9MM defensive ammo?

I think the best answer is which do you shoot the most accurate in your defense gun, especially with follow up shots. Most of the guys I shoot with have gone to Lehigh Defense Bullets or Underwood Honey Badger for Self Defense Loads. What I like about the test results say not only is the...

    Primers for 357 magnum

I use now and have used for many years magnum primers in all of my handgun loads both small and large and have seen very little difference in velocities from light charges of Bullseye to Max Loads of 2400. I've seen more variance in velocity from brand to brand than I have from standard to magnum.

Identity and Date of Manufacture of S&W Revolvers

Smith and Wesson never published dates of manufacture. Your gun shipped between 1948-1951.. Serial numbers C1-C223998 were shipped in those 4 years. Yours was likely by the math 1949?

Identity and Date of Manufacture of S&W Revolvers

72785 is not the serial number. the serial number is found on the butt of the gun. Model 36 got the change of -1 in 1967 and continued until 2988 when the -2 was introduced. Get the serial number off the butt and can narrow down the ship date

    S&W Mod 27-2 ?

I'm betting it was a model 28-2. Same gun, just a different finish. I could easily have been a model 28 that was mistakenly stamped 27 at the factory. That is not uncommon. I sold a model 57 last year that was clearly a 41 magnum with some of the prettiest hi gloss blue I've ever seen and the...

Multiple firearms purchases at one time, Pennsylvania

I can tell you this, the multiple handgun form that dealers send it can and will raise a red flag with the ATF if they see several of them in a short period. According to my FFL, this is one of the ways they identify non FFL holders that are dealing in firearms. There is no law that prohibits...

    First 9mm loads using TiteGroup

For years my go to powder for 9mm and .38 was Bullseye. I tried some Titegroup after finding a couple of 4lb jugs at an estate sale for $50 a jug. It worked great in 9mm with 115,124 and 147gr Coated Lead. Very Accurate in my Hi Powers and my Sig P365. While I don't like Plated Bullets, at the...

    Glock's and coated lead bullets??

I personally don't shoot Glocks, but the guys I shoot with run all kinds of bullets through theirs. Jacketed, Plated and Coated Lead and I've never seen a problem. I know one guy that mixes his ammo up all the time and I'm willing to be he has not cleaned his Glock in at least 5k rounds.

    Magnum Small Pistol Primers

I read a test a member of another forum did with regular and magnum pistol primers. I can't find it right now, but I'll post it when I do. He compared Remington, Winchester, CCI and Federal SPP in standard and magnum. No pressure testing, just velocity. The posted results were for 38 special...

Identity and Date of Manufacture of S&W Revolvers

Should be another X on serial number. H30002-H60000 shipped 1971-1972 With another digit on your serial number, your gun probably shipped in 1971

Identity and Date of Manufacture of S&W Revolvers

I would take the pictures and information to the S&W forum www.smith-wessonforum.com. Not to get it confused with the smithandwessonforum.com. There are 2 different ones. The first one is the one you want. We call it the big blue forum. The most knowledgeable S&W people on earth are on that...

Identity and Date of Manufacture of S&W Revolvers

You should have a Model 29 no dash. Model 29 should be stamped in the crane area when you open the cylinder. The model numbers started in 1957 and your gun should have shipped in 1958. Also according to the information I have, 8 3/8" Barrels were produced only after the model stamping started in...

You have a 32 Hand ejector 2nd change. Made from 1906-1909 with the serial number range of 51127-95500. Yours probably shipped in 1907 I would guess

Identity and Date of Manufacture of S&W Revolvers

The K7773XX is the serial number. 19-2 is the Model number. The other numbers are assembly numbers and mean nothing The gun was shipped near the end of 1967

Question on Federal Large Pistol Primers.

Federal is the only brand I use due to the fact that they are softer and some of my revolvers have such light actions they won't fire CCI. In my opinion Federal are also the most consistant primer especially the match primers. A guy on another forum just rang a really detailed test on primers as...

What Are You Willing To Pay For 9mm?

There are a lot of "new" shooters out there as well as "new" reloaders. I feel for them. They have never been through a shortage like a lot of us have and it has caught a lot of people by surprise. I saw a few of the signs so I started stocking up on components about 6 months ago. I normally...
