    CHAIN FIRE

I've never had one, but my daughter has. And it was entirely my fault. I gave her an ASM 62 Pocket Navy. I didn't have any balls for it, so I loaded it with 00 Buck. They were a tad loose in the chambers but I thought they'd be okay. First shot was fine, so I figured we were good. Second shot...

    Trying to fan the 1858

Every once in a while, it's fun to just have fun! So every once in a while, I do burnouts in my Challenger, and fan my revolver!

    Short arbor???

I solder a shim to the face of the arbor, then dress it down with a file to fit. There's quite a few ways to address the short arbor. This is just how I do it. There's no right or wrong way to do it.

    Big Iron!

I really like the top one. That perimeter stamp is awesome. Looks like a snake's belly. And I gotta say, I really like the elk antler grips. I would love to have a set of those on one of my Dragoons.

    Uberti vs Pietta 1851 Navy

Which is better? Ford or Chevy? I wouldn't know, I prefer Dodge. It's all completely subjective. You'll get as many opinions as there are people. In the end, you're better off handling them and seeing which one you prefer.

How do you pack grease in a revolver?

Yessir. That's pretty much the way to do it. I highly recommend Mobil 1.

    Value for older C&B revos

Is it just me, or is there something funny about the hammer spurs on those guns? They look like they've been cut down.

Tips on shortening a revolver barrel

On mine, I cut the barrel down. So the latch was eliminated. But you probably don't want to shorten a sheriff model barrel any further. I would suggest a dovetail blank. They make a flat piece of steel that is dovetailed and slides right in the slot on the barrel. All you have to do is file it...

Tips on shortening a revolver barrel

Looks good BlackPowderWarrior. What are your plans for the loading lever latch? Will you leave it hanging under the barrel?

The best grips on BP (and other) revolvers

I never got on the Ruger bandwagon. But I gotta say, I could get used to that fixed sight model on the bottom, with the fancy custom grip. That's an outstanding looking piece.

The best grips on BP (and other) revolvers

1K is right Onty. The Walker and Whitneyville have the same grip. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Model Dragoons all have the same grip, and they are just a little different than the Walker and Whitneyville. I like either one myself. They are just the right size and shape for my big-ish hands.

The best grips on BP (and other) revolvers

This is a very subjective question. You're likely to get as many different answers as you get responses to the question. It largely depends on your hand size and shape. For me, the Walker and Dragoons have the perfect grip. They fit my hand better than anything. Followed very closely by the...
