I like the Savage 220. I also like the Ithaca 37 slug setup. I am going to be getting a rifled 20 gauge barrel for my Mossberg to see if I want to buy one of the others.

I’m not sure of the diameter of each gauges’ Sabot slugs but I image that aren’t proportional to each other. I further imagine that the 12 gauge has more clearance between the slug and the OD of the Sabot bushing, which would mean it would have more possible yaw in the slug flight. If they are...

I’m leaning towards the 20 gauge for shooting Sabot rounds out of a rifled shotgun barrel. Is there a good argument to use a 12 gauge? I would think a 12 gauge may not shoot as accurate. Which do you prefer and why?

I contacted Mossberg and the very nice guy I spoke with said that if my shotgun held 5 shells, plus one in chamber, the M 500 rifled barrel would fit. Mine does indeed hold 5 with plug removed.

Usually firearm companies are more than happy to check out a problem. Firearms used to be hand fit but everything is machined on a CNC lathe or mill these days. It wouldn’t be hard to believe there is a problem so just call Remington and they will provide you with shipping label and instructions.
