    Mossberg vs Remington

Bragood, How do you get your wife and your girlfriend to shoot the same gun? My wife gets pissed if my girlfriend shows up at the range with a fancier gun!

    Model 12 Recoil Pad

Grind away the old pad with a Dremel (use a sanding drum) to get to the screws. Twist the screws out with a pair of Vice-Grips. Old pad is removed without cutting the stock. Do not shoot with a loose stock; it WILL crack!

    Sticker shock !!!!!!!!!!

Last fall I was paying $7 for AA. Then the price went to $8.29. Now it's $9.99. I recently bought a box of super sport AA 7 1/2 for $10.88 and a box of Fiocchi Golden Pheasant for $15. On the positive side I now have 5 flats of AA hulls to reload.

Ruger bolt action rifles - why are they not more popular?

I don't like the scope rings. They often don't line up properly. If you need a different height they are a PITA to get and expensive. The triggers are rough and heavy. I have fixed three with Timney parts. Accuracy is spotty.

    field guns used for skeet??

I have two Citori Lightnings, a 28 and a 410. I shoot "real" skeet. I have broken several 25 strait with the 28 and just shot my fist strait with the 410. I shoot low gun. They work for me! I recently knocked the crap out of some game farm pheasants with the 28. That was fun! If your...

    Shotgun for my wife.

Good post Springmom! My wife is 5' 6" with a strong fairly athletic build. Youth guns do not fit her. Full sized guns SLIGHTLY shortened do. Her favorite shotgun was a Beretta 390 12 ga cut to 14" lop followed by my 28 ga Citori (14 1/4"). Her next gun will probably be a 20 ga Beretta 391...

    Les Bear?

I've never owned a 1911. Someday, maybe not to far off, I'd like to own a really nice 1911. Would a Les Bear fill the bill? My dilemma is that I've read way to many posts about faulty Kimbers, Springers, ext. I've heard good things about S&W but I want a traditional 1911; no external...

    Recoil in plastic framed .45's?

I found that the recoil of a friends full sized 45 Glock is very mild. As previously mentioned it is a slow push. It is not snappy as is the recoil from my G-17, XD9 or any of the combat 40s I've shot. I can't comment on a 45 1911. I will say that the full sized 9mm 1911 I shot was the...

"Pointing vs. Aiming" a Shotgun - Difference in Training?

A skilled clay shooter can "point" and blow your head off (under 25 yards) faster than you can say AIM!

Want 28 gauge O/U Need opinions

If you're patient you should be able to find a nice used Browning Citouri for $1000-1100. I just bought a Lightning with one box of shells under it's belt for $1300. I know you said $900 max; but you're only a couple hundred bucks away from buying something really nice if you're patient.....

11-87... how clean does it need to be?

Normally I just spray the mag tube with Rem-oil and wipe it down with a rag. I may use a brass brush to remove the carbon directly under the gas ports. When it's time to strip the action I'll use steel wool on the mag tube and a special brush to clean the gas portion of the barrel (what the...

    Should I get a 28 gauge?

I own a 28 ga (Citouri) and I love it. It is built on a 20 ga frame, as are most 28 ga guns, so the wieght is the same. Recoil is "snappy" with factory AA ammo. Recoil would probably be less in an Identical 20 ga with Winchester "Feather" ammo. 28 ga ammo is expensive! "Feather" 20 ga ammo...

My M-1 was reliable with HOT 1oz loads (1290 fps). My SBE1 required 3 dram 1 1/8 loads (1200 fps) to be reliable.

Ruger Mark I, the lack of a slide lock cause damage the breech?

Don't worry about it! My MOM bought my MK2 for me (I was to young) the year they came out. A gozillion rounds later no problems other than the bolt stop pin(?)( the pin that hooks to the take down lever that stops the rearward movement of the bolt) finally breaking after 20 or so years...
