    AR-RPM9

I've been lax in my knife purchase of late. What do you think of AR-RPM9 that's been growing in use on the $50-$100 Chinese made folders?

    MagnaCut Native 5 Salt Pre-Orders

Just a heads up, Knifecenter is currently taking pre-orders on the Spyderco Native 5 Salt with CPM-MagnaCut blade. Yes, I've pre-ordered one myself.

    Nitecore EC4GT

Image courtesy of Illumn, where I picked this up on closeout for $35. This isn't really a tactical light, but it's useful for the high intensity output (long throw), and long run times. Independent hobbyist testers have verified Nitecore's claims that the body on this series of lights is a giant...

Doug Ritter's RSK Mk1 is Back!

It's still a Knife Works exclusive - https://www.knifeworks.com/kw-exclusives/rskmk1g2.html. It's still being made in the USA, but it's now manufactured by Hogue. The blade steel is still M390, but the handle has been upgraded to 3D machined G10. It's quite a bit of knife for $153.

    Gerber - Major Problems

I picked up the new Gerber Kettlebell because it looked very similar to the CRKT Pilar which I like, but with a more pointed tip. It's a good design, but the manufacturing is horrible, and their customer service is non-existent. I'll never buy another Gerber product -

    Aluminum Handles

In a recent thread another member and I were discussing blade steels to try to help another member better understand the differences in some of the premium / super premium steels. I brought up the soon to be released M390 blade versions of the aluminum handle Kershaw Link and Dividend liner lock...

    Knife Design Originality

In the Cold Steel S35VN thread the question of design originality came up. During the run of that thread I discovered the Factor Equipment Iconic knife, which has been discontinued, because Giant Mouse knives says it's a copy of their GM1 designed by Anso and Voxnaes. However, the Iconic reminds...

    CRKT Voxnaes Pilar

As some of you know, I kind of have a thing for small knives, and I also like sheep's foot and Wharncliffe blade variations. So, the CRKT made Voxnaes designed Pilar was pretty high on my list of affordable new releases this year. I missed Blade HQ's first shipment of the Pilar, but thankfully...

    Ken Onion's Newest Technology

He's come up with a design that allows a pocket knife to be field stripped without tools. The video does it more justice than me trying to explain it.

    Revisited: Serious Small Knives

Two and a half years ago I did a review of several serious use small knives. Of those knives I still have the Spyderco Meerkat, the Boker Plus Subcom Titan, and the Cold Steel Mini Tuff Lite. For most of this year I've been carrying a 3.5" blade frame lock of some form. As I've transitioned back...

    Ultra Budget Folder - $2

I was buying LED light bulbs in Menard's and, being the knife nut that I am, I walked by their knife section to see if there were any holiday deals. Their Guidesman house brand knives Star Fire model that's normaly $6.99 has a $5 mail in rebate good through 12/31, with a limit of 2. I'm not...

    Griptilian Upgrading

Benchmade is upgrading the Griptilians with a G10 handle and a CPM-20CV blade. GP and several others have them available for pre-order: http://www.gpknives.com/brands/benchmadeknivesandtools/benchmade-g10-griptilian.html. 20CV is Crucible's equivalent of Bohler M390 -...

    ZT 0562CF Field Use Report

At the beginning of the month I bought a ZT 0562CF from the most recent run which uses CTS-204P blade steel. The factory edge was 20 DPS / 40 Deg. Incl. by my measurement. The factory edge was semi-polished. I'm currently spending several hours per week of my time working with an education...

    Boker - Argh.

Boker, I love them and I hate them. I love their Plus line because they work closely with and pay custom makers and designers so they can produce (in China) good quality mass market versions of the custom at moderate to low prices. The Chad Los Banos designs, the Subcom in particular, are...

    Kershaw Thermite 57% Off

Amazon currently has the Kershaw Thermite for $23.64, which is 57% off of MSRP, and it's prime eligible. I've been carrying one for the past several months and it's a darn nice knife. It's also cheap enough to replace that I don't mind beating and I wouldn't be upset if I lost it. At typical $30...
