Update Talked to Smith and Wesson today...very, very nice guy. He said it's called "Throw By". Most likely cause is a worn locking groove on the cylinder. Worst case is a new cylinder (about $175). Could be worse! I'll be sending it back tomorrow. Should come back perfect!

I've been using a Sauer .243 for years with fabulous results. It can be extremely accurate, is very flat and carries enough energy out to at least 300 yards for average size deer. The recoil is extremely mild even in a lightweight rifle. I couldn't recommend it higher.

The Surefire U2, uncharacteristically of Surefire, has a terrible quality record. It has a reputation of a "donut" beam (darker spot in the center) and a number of failures of the switch. Check out www.candlepowerforums.com.

84B20: Great picture. That is EXACTLY what they were advertised to do: expand uniformly and reliably with the sharp jacket sticking out beyond the lead to slice through, and they worked. I was issues them as a deputy and just found TWO last night. Wish I had a whole box.

Thanks for those comments. I hadn't realized that it could be off on one chamber, but of course that's correct. Last night, I checked timing and it appeared to lock fine before the sear breaking...but I only checked 2 or 3 chambers. I also shined a flashlight down the barrel and the chamber...

When I moved to CA in 1989, I moved to Placer County almost exclusively because of CCW. Had one for 12 years there. Have to confess that I went through POST and became a reserve deputy, but the last 5 years I was not. Now in a Must Issue state. Ahhhhhhh. Now I'm legal in 29 states.

I've owned the same G21 since I bought it for duty carry in '92. I shoot in a league every Wednesday. I shoot both guns equally well! The G30 is the ideal gun IMO. I'm trying to trade a G23 for another G30 as backup at the moment. If I could have only 1 pistol, the G30 would be it. Nice trade...

Can't disagree with Ala Dan. But, I just got a choice S&W 586 in MINT for $350 that I would easily pay the $50 premium for over a M19. Patience and looking around is the key!
