Compact for concealed carry help (Newb)

The Kel-Tec PF-9 is worth a look. Its DOA, not DA/SA like you asked, but the trigger pull is pretty decent, and mine is pretty accurate. Its the smallest 9mm I've ever handled (about the size of many .32's and .380's), and the price is very reasonable... about $300 brand new.

New Mexico Ski Resorts and CCW?

Falling down while skiing hurts enough as it is, without landing on a pistol. ;)

Correct. While the land itself is owned by the city, the property is leased to, and administered by, a private organization.

TX - Can a normal restaurant put up a 51% sign just for giggles?

Contact TABC. They'll send an officer out to make sure the signage is correct, and if necessary remove any improperly posted 51% signs.

TX Game warden took photos of my serials...

Its largely myth. The exact powers are specified in Title 2, Chapter 12 of the Texas Parks & Wildlife Code. http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/Docs/PW/pdf/PW.12.pdf Again, its largely myth. See above. With regard to habitations and vehicles on public roadways, all normal search and...

TX Game warden took photos of my serials...

Regarding search of a vehicle, if the vehicle is off-road on lands commonly used for hunting or fishing, Texas Game Wardens can conduct a warrantless search without probable cause, if they have reasonable suspicion to believe that you have been involved in hunting or fishing. However, If the...

    Bass Pro Shop

Its a loss-prevention policy. Most retailers do this with "big ticket" items, not just guns. Its to ensure that you did, in fact, pay for the item.

Saw a show about either Rangers or Green Berets being able to pick their own weapons.

Army Special Forces Groups and Navy SEAL Teams are both Tier 2 units. The 1SFOD-D (aka "Delta") is a Tier 1 unit, and their Navy counterpart is Naval Special Warfare Command DEVGRU (aka "SEAL Team Six").

    autoloader for lefties?

Most guns are designed for right-hand, and modified for lefties as an afterthought. The HK P2000 was designed from the ground-up to be totally ambidextrous. If I were a lefty, I'd have one.

Any one seen any good bargains on scopes?

I think Nikon offers great bang for the buck. I love my 3-9x40 ProStaff, mounted on my .30-06 Savage. The Buckmaster line is really nice too. I bought mine from SWFA, and since they're storefront is here in DFW, I had them mount and boresight it for me too. Great people with whom to do business.

This happened...in Texas of all places.

Agreed. I cant say I'm surprised that something like this would happen in Dallas. However, I'm very disappointed, and a bit outraged, that Fort Worth was complicit in a gun grab. I'm going to let my city councilman know that I'm not the least bit pleased. Haha, true...
