I'm in the market for a new scope for my .270. I'm looking at the Nikon Prostaff 3x9, a Nikon Buckmaster 6x18 (which I will put on my .223, and then put my 4.5x14 Buckmaster on my .270) and a Burris Fullfield II 3x9.

Has anyone seen any deals on any of these lately? I've looked at Midway, SWFA, and Cabelas. Any other sites I should look at?

I'm open to other suggestions if you know of a great deal (less than 300, preferably less than 200), but I'm not really looking for scope recommendations so much as good deals on the scopes I've mentioned.

natchesz (not sure of spelling) is having a sale on scopes now

I'm pretty naive when it comes to scopes, but I bought a couple of Simmons Whitetail scopes from Midway when they had them on sale for ~$110 or so. Seem to be pretty nice, but I'm just a target shooter.

Don't know what part of town you are in, but wally worlds usually carry the nikons, from 130 to 200 bucks, from the lowest level to the top. they also carry burris and Pentax. any of those 3, between those prices, would be very good to get.

As mentioned above, the Monarch is damn good though...

Wally World carries some of the Nikons at good prices. They're good scopes. I've got one on a rimfire. It's hard to believe it was only 100 bucks, including rings.

I've been happy with my Burris Fullfield II on a .30-06 hunting rifle, also. Cabela's has some local sales on them right now. Not sure about catalog orders.

I would take a look at the bushnell 4200 3x9 from opticsplanet i think its 299$ and for that price IMHO its really hard to beat, I am putting one on my 375 for this year then next year it will replace the POS bsa scope on my old 30-06.

ebay

As much as people assail them for the anti-gun policies, I continue to find NIB optics on there at garage sale prices.

The last scope I got was a brand new Nikon Buckmasters... $91.

I think Nikon offers great bang for the buck. I love my 3-9x40 ProStaff, mounted on my .30-06 Savage. The Buckmaster line is really nice too.

I bought mine from SWFA, and since they're storefront is here in DFW, I had them mount and boresight it for me too. Great people with whom to do business.

Yes, the best value going that I've seen (and an incredible one) is at www.natchezss.com , and it's the Nikon Omega (non-BDC reticle) 3-9x40mm for $139.95 - better than a Monarch, better than the Team Primos, better than the Elite 4200**, for sub-$150.

**these are my personal (but well-informed) OPINIONS.

Wow I just about talked myself into buying a couple more of these!

Hmmm, they may be out now - I'm looking.

OK, found it - oops, sorry, it's $150, not $140:

I'm really starting to wonder why you keep saying this? I'm sure it's a nice little scope with lots of eye relief, but if Nikon's own website is to be believed it is more along the lines of a buckmaster or prostaff. Definitely does not have the Monarch glass, turrets or tube as the team primos does.
