but I can't find it anywhere. Are .30 Gibbs and .30-06 Ackley Improved the same cartridge, and if not, what are the differences?

    Garand Op Rod

So yesterday the Long Brown Box showed up from FedEx, containing one Field Grade M1 Garand rifle from the CMP. Upon removing said rifle from said box, field stripping and greasing where it needed it, I noticed that it came with an uncut op-rod. Question: Just how much of a problem is this? Do I...

It came it came it came!!

As of yesterday I am the proud owner of a Springfield Armory-built U.S. Rifle, Cal. .30, M1. It's an "upgrade" from the Century one I sold to TheFitzvh back in September (see this thread). Ordered it on 06 November, delivered on 12 January. Serial number, according to oldguns.net puts it as...

    Navy vs Army?

Out of the blue, just out of curiosity type question: Revolvers designated "Army" being .44 caliber and revolvers designated "Navy" being .36 caliber, why the difference? More rounds per pound in .36 better for weight aboard ship?

    Beretta 92 QQ

Anyone know anything about the 92's with the "Y" prefix on the serial number? I was looking at one of these at Sportsman's Warehouse the other day and the guy behind the counter pointed it out to me, and that it was about $50 less than another one without the "Y". Just wondering why that might be.

    Headspace?

I recently took my fairly new (to me) Yugo M-48 out to the range and tried it out for the first time. I found that chambering a round was easy, but after firing a round the bolt was kinda tough to get open. Not just, "hey there's an expanded casing in the action" tough, but, "Wow, this dude's...

    Crimping problems

Problem: I am just getting into reloading, and have run into my first frustration. My crimps don't seem to be holding the bullets really well. I've tried .45 ACP and .30-30 Win. and in both calibers when the rounds are (carefully, and in a safe area) run through the gun, many end up with the...

    !#$%#@ Kids!!

Or, "Lasers in the Night." So my Wife, three-year-old son, and I got home last night at about 8:30 p.m. from the In-Laws house where we had just had a pleasant, relaxing Christmas weekend. We go the car unpacked, the kiddo to bed, and were sitting in frontofa cheery fire watching The Return...

Can we use this to our advantage?

A few days ago in Massachusetts, same-sex marriage was determined to be legal. Now suppose, just for the ske of arguement, that there comes a ruling from SCOTUS or some other high, airy hall of whatever that due to the premise of Equal Protection Under the Law, Marriage Licenses from...
