    Gun Safe Humidity

Golden Rod can make things worse if you do not provide for the air flow/venting/circulation as described for in the installation instructions -- think sauna. If you understand the operating principle, you can better assure success with its use. May also help to know the difference between...

    Which shotgun for home defense?

I think the OP owns one 9mm handgun and perhaps has little shotgun experience. He may not know what he shoots best or what even determines whether a gun fits. But he's ready to spend up to $1000 on a HD shotgun. One suggestion is go to an indoor range with rentals. Ask for an instructor to...

AR-15 noob build. Better options than.....

I went with a premium mid-length upper and built the lower -- both from PSA. No regrets. Would do it again. In fact, already have the stripped lower. DO IT!!!

    Bersa Thunder .380 ACP

In terms of comfort... The larger Bersa is a sweet shooter with easily managed recoil. I put a Hogue Handall Jr (upside down) on the BodyGuard and it nicely fits my hand. The LCP is really just not fun to shoot, but it serves a purpose for some. And I'm biased toward the M&P platform -- for...

    Lead shot size separator...

Take a flat aluminum plate and mount a blade (metal pallet strap) or bar (aluminum stock). Adjust the gap to whatever size shot you want to pass/retain. Works for brass, so maybe would work for your shot?

    Old shotgun question

Went looking for a nice used Wingmaster a few years ago. Ended up with a 1956 -- plain stock, corncob forend, 30-in full choke. Plain-jane gold ol' WM and it did not look like it had ever been fired... BUT, the action was gritty to beat all and there was white powder all over the gun...

    Advice on Firearm Purchase

Get the PSA AR15, then ammo and training. When you obtain some proficiency with those 3, then consider what else to add. Perhaps in question is whether you want have a gun collection or want to know how to shoot?

    2 IDPA questions

IDPA is wildly popular in my area. A match that used to be shot in the morning, now takes a whole day due to the hoard of shooters. Overall a good thing for sure!!! But now I shoot when the weather is wet or cold enough to keep fair weather shooters at home. Watching other people shoot has...

How to get rid of Gun smell?

Ok. No problem with folks being able to smell iron. But how does the odor transfer to the OP's hand? Clue: It's not the iron.

How to get rid of Gun smell?

Given that the odor transfers to your hand, I don't think it's the metal. I suggest: Take down the gun and verify that it is the metal parts that you smell. If so, clean the barrel or slide -- first with WD-40 to degrease and then with hot soapy water (Dawn dish soap). Rinse thoroughly with...

    Fighting shotgun recommendations

Can't fault the 870. I have a few older ones along with various fixed choke barrels. Also an Express with an 18-1/2 barrel and a 26" with rem-chokes. If an 870 feels good, points well, fits, then get one

Awareness and self defense in home garage

^^^ This. Likewise when leaving, do not open the garage door until you are in your car with doors locked. Also, when you drive out of the garage, watch for anyone sneaking in as you close the garage door. (One other thing, the defendant shoots strong-hand-only. Once out of the car, I...

Advice for new shotgun, sporting clays and upland birds

My introduction to shotguns began on a skeet range at station #7 shooting the low house with a single shot .410. Being coached by an experienced skeet champion, my very first target was hit. Looking back, I can imagine much frustration, slow progress, poor technique, and lack of understanding...

    Which Handgun Should I Get?

Testing versus actually carrying for a few weeks will likely alter preferences regarding size, shape, weight, concealment. Don't be inflexible. Recreational plinking or recreational competitive shooting? Competition helped me greatly (IDPA, Steel Challenge, bowling pins). If you know the...

FTE-what did I do wrong here?

I've seen crud limit the pivot movement of the extractor. Thought it needed a new one, but when it was removed/cleaned/re-installed the function was as-new. And this gun was regularly cleaned, but not "deep cleaned".

    Anyone else soured on .22lr?

I've tried to pass along 400 rds of Eley Sport 40gr LRN plinking ammo. The stuff will not run in my Buckmark. Tried to get $4/box of 50rds and got nowhere. That's about what I paid for it, but seems most are holding out for a return to $.05/rd pricing.
