Pencil Eraser for Lead Buildup on Cylinder?

Is there any reason a pencil eraser should not be used to remove lead buildup on the front edges of a blued revolver cylinder? Seems to work, I can't imagine it removing any bluing like I've heard some chemical solvents and metal brushes can.

    Help for Old Eyes

I'm 62 and recently got a pair of prescription shooting glasses from Jim Mulligan at Bouquet Mulligan DeMaio Eye Professionals in PA (I live in NM). They specialize in glasses for shooters and ship them all over the US and world. The difference is amazing, my first time to the range Saturday...

    AR: A1 Rifle Question

Does anyone have an idea of the value of the A1 rifle on the right of the photo below? This was bought from Century Arms a few years ago, they were stored in the Phillippines after Vietnam and had the receiver and barrel replaced, but mainly Colt parts. They're getting crazy prices for similar...

    Korth .22 - Wow

Just got this 1967 Korth .22, made back when Willi Korth was personally involved in the making of each. Easily the finest high end handgun I've owned, and I have a Python and have owned a Sig P210 and Manurhin 73 (albeit a police beater gun). Fit and finish, trigger, ergonomics and of course...

    Rolex and Handgun Shooting

If anybody here owns a Rolex, do you shoot with it, or with any other high end mechanical watch? Was wondering if the recoil shock would harm anything. I've seen Larry Vickers and others shooting on TV wearing a Rolex. I posted this on the Rolex forum but some snowflake moderator took it down.

6.5x55 Hunting Question for the Experts

When hog hunting with my Sako Finnlight 6.5x55, at ranges of 75 yards and under have been getting completely fragmented bullets on hog kills with 140 gr. bullets, no matter the brand or hog size. I don't reload. To the point where with my last one, probably every third sausage package from the...

Rifle Liking Different Bullet Weights More than Others?

I have a 1968 Sako Finnbear .30-'06 that seems to like 150 gr. and 180 gr. bullets, but 165 gr. not so much, can't seem to get accurate or consistent groups. Even to the point of shooting different 165 gr. bullets to different places. Anyone else see this in their rifles? If this is just a...

7MM Rem. Mag. - How Loud is It?

Thinking of buying a 7mm Mag. for an upcoming Oryx hunt, but have heard they are pretty loud. How would a 24.5" barrel 7mm Mag. compare to a 22" .30-'06 as far as muzzle blast? Thank you

    Two New Finnish Mosin Nagants

Really impressed with these guns, compared to the Russian Mosins they have better sights, and generally a better action and trigger. On the left is a 1942 Sako, the right one is a 1944 VKT. Using Russian surplus ammo at 50 yards, my best groups were on the right of the target photo three shots...

    Proper Cleaning for Corrosive Rifle?

I have a mint condition Finnish M39 on the way and was wondering what the experts here say about cleaning after using corrosive ammo. I've heard some say use Windex, others just two patches with water, dry, and CLP. I live in a dry climate (NM), is this even much of a concern?

Gratuitous Hunting Pic: 6.5x55 vs. Cow Elk

Taken at Vermejo Park Ranch, NM last Friday. Sako Finnlight with Zeiss Conquest scope. You can see the bloodline from the kill shot on front left shoulder, it really destroyed the lungs. Used Norma factory ammo, 156 grain bullet.

Sako 85 Finnlight 6.5x55 vs. Cow Elk

Taken at Vermejo Park Ranch, NM. Not too big, but these are supposed to make the best eating. Used Norma 156 gr. round, Zeiss Conquest scope. Besides this elk, have now used this rifle to take a Barbary Sheep and 7 hogs, all DRT with factory ammo.

    Barrel Scratch

Question for the experts here, I have a new Sako Finn Light in 6.5x55 and the first time at the range used a bore snake that was the wrong size, it was too big (thank you Sportsman's Warehouse). It went down the bore several times with some effort and I noticed there a few tiny scratches on the...

    6.5x55 vs. Barbary Sheep

Couple shots of a Barbary I got yesterday. Rifle is a Sako 85 Finnlight shooting Privi Partizan 6.5x55 with a Zeiss Conquest scope. This makes the third one I've gotten with this round, and these animals are tough. A fun Saturday morning. Did I mention I like living in New Mexico? :D

Response from Groupon on Gun Policy

I thought those of you who may use Groupon might want to know of their new policy of not carrying firearm-related offers. I complained and told them to take me off their e-mail list, and got this reply: "Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us. We understand that this is a sensitive...

    Range Report: Colt Mustang Pocketlite

Posted on another forum: After being disappointed in the Ruger LCP (totally unreliable) and Kel-Tec .380, I bought a Colt Mustang Pocketlite at my LGS for $594. No photo, but here it is: http://www.coltsmfg.com/Catalog/Colt...ocketlite.aspx This is supposed to have many...
