does the 500 s&w make sense?

The Wild West Guns are a modified Marlin 1895 Guide Gun which may not have been up to the task of firing a .500 S&W lever action. Pure speculation on my part. The Big Horn Armory has beaten them to the market, or will by April 2010, by building the gun rather than modifying an existing gun...

does the 500 s&w make sense?

Towner I forgot to mention the Towner .500 S&W pump. The call it the ultimate hog gun. http://www.townermfg.com/

does the 500 s&w make sense?

Big Horn Armory says they are going into production, with a lever action rifle and a carbine, by either March or April. http://bighornarmory.com/products/ The carbine is shown in this GunBlast.com video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRLnhJzDTn4 Wild West Guns has been promising...

    Washington state residents

Senator Pam Roach's blog says there were not enough votes to move the bill out of committee. It's dead. Now we should focus on the House Bills. HB 2477 would hold a person responsible if they sell a gun at a gun show to someone who would not have passed a NICS background check, and who...

does the 500 s&w make sense?

Has anyone mentioned in this thread that Big Horn Armory has a .500 S&W magnum lever action rifle? I understand production is planned for March 2010. Wild West Guns has been promising one since 2004 (possibly earlier?) but tell me they're still working on it...

does the 500 s&w make sense?

Projectile weight sure does make a difference! When I let someone try my .500 for the first time, I load it with 325s. When we jump up to 440s they sometimes ask if something has gone wrong... I haven't tried .500 special and imagine it would be pretty mild. Ammo Bank sells them in 275...

does the 500 s&w make sense?

I had to look that up because I've never seen .500 in smaller than 325 gr projectile. Learn something new every day :)

does the 500 s&w make sense?

Yes it does. Plus, Ballistic Supply web site says, "NOTE: Due to RECOIL and destabilization, the 700 gr. bullet is not recommended for barrel lengths 4“ or shorter." My .500 is a 4" barrel... I've bought some 700 gr. projectiles to use in my T. C. Encore 500 but haven't found primers yet :(

    .223 w/Dillon 550B?

I think I can get set up with this info. Thanks. Today I loaded my first batch or .38 special using 'once fired' brass I bought from a THR member. Most of it was good, a few pieces of .357 snuck in, but there were a couple of pieces with .32 brass inside of .38s. I imagine that would make...

    .223 w/Dillon 550B?

I've been loading handgun rounds for about a year and want to start loading for .223 / 5.56. Other than the same caliber conversion 'kit' I'd need for a new handgun caliber, what new equipment might be required? Am I going to need to trim brass?

    642 Club Part Deux

Custom Holster w/thumb break? I've been carrying my 642 CT in a Galco Speed Master for quite a while but now it's time for a change. I want a good leather hoslter with thumb break retention. The Galco Fletch would work for me, if the retention straps reaches over my Crimson Trace Grips...

Where to put a shotgun for HD?

Naturally nothing is theft proof. One man with 2 skate boards and some duct tape could steal a 600# gun safe. Anyone with a hi-lift jack could rip a safe's bolts from the floor. A criminal can bring their own weapon... A home defense shotgun which is out of reach, or just a safe...

Where to put a shotgun for HD?

I carry at home but if I wanted to keep a definsive shotgun handy, I might use one of these turned vertical and recessed between wall studs. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/full-sized-hide-a-frame.aspx?a=590224

    CCW instruction in Wells, NV?

Where does one go for CCW instruction / qualification if they live in Wells, NV? A year ago I got my Utah permit to cover me while working in Nevada. As we know, that was good for 6 months :( Soon I'll be working near Wells and would like to get qualified for the Nevada permit while there...

Feral Hog Hunting - Minimum caliber?

Towner Mfg claims their .500 S&W pump is ideal for feral hog control :) I'm a big fan of the caliber but am holding out for Wild West Guns to make a lever gun in .500 S&W http://www.townermfg.com/

    CCW and relationships

My friends don't ever 'know' I am carrying but they assume I am because I make it a point to tell them I always carry. My opinion is that it's politically beneficial for our friends and neighbors to know that good citizens, as opposed to heavily tattooed ex-cons and gangsters, carry guns for...

Don't know what that neighborhood is like but if you'd been where I live, I would think you were paranoid. Headlights was a prudent move once he called out to you :)
