    5.45 saiga?

I got a S&W 5.45x39 upper from AIM and shot it today. The low cap mags work with it, but high cap regular mags dont. I used a BM 5rd mag, Colt 9rd and the 30rd CProducts that came with it and it ran perfectly. It works just as good as any AR15 in 5.56 Ive had and is way cheaper to shoot...

    5.45x39 S&W AR15 Upper

You dont need luck, the Bulgarian ammo is barely corrosive. It is easy to clean out if you have an air compressor and some water anyway.

    Dirtiest 22 in the west

What is the longest you have gone without cleaning your 22LR? I have a Model 60 I have 3500 rds through without cleaning. I just keep adding CLP to it once a brick and it keeps on going. I am going to see if it will run indefinitely like this. I have a feeling it is blowing most of the crud...

    3-9x40: Conquest or VX-III ?

Are they both supposedly equally durable? I had a cheapo $99 Bushnell Trophy fall over on my 22 last week and the crosshairs shifted a foot at 100 yards. Which scope would most likely not do that when dropped, or is it a crap shoot? Thanks for the replies.

    3-9x40: Conquest or VX-III ?

Anyone with any experience here, what would you choose? They are close in price and I am looking for one to put on an AR-10. I will be using this scope at night quite alot with the help of a spotlight. Thanks for any advice.

    Saiga, quick question:

Yes, no problem. There arent a whole lot of guns that cant be dry fired safely, it seems to be worst for some 22s. Also bad news on CZ52s.

    Ammo Prices

Unfortunately Wideners doesnt have 9mm AE for $7, it says 0 in stock which means that price is probably from a few years ago. I havent seen that stuff under $9 a box for over a year online. Wideners and AIM seem to be the two cheapest places for most stuff.

    Remington .22 Golden Bullets?

Golden bullets are great, they function in my Model 60 great. The Winchesters from Walmart are horrible in this particular gun.

    Mosin M38

Almost all M38s are counterbored, they did it whether the gun needed it or not. $129 is a fair price, they are getting hard to find most places. You might get lucky and find one for $90, but they seem to be drying up in Eastern PA. M38 is quite a bit lighter and handier than the M44. In...

Verily, I say unto thee, the 5.45x39 gravy train may be coming to a halt ...

buck00, I see you live in PA. I live in far eastern PA, as far from Rguns as possible and still in PA. If you order the Russian 5.45 from them, with shipping, it is actually slightly cheaper than the $119 shipped that Century had. Who knows how long that stuff will last, but it is just as...

Verily, I say unto thee, the 5.45x39 gravy train may be coming to a halt ...

I really wonder if others are going to raise there prices much. This stuff already was very unpopular among shooters for some reason except for a few of us, and most that had guns for it stocked up. At $160 a case I dont think anyone will buy it. 7.62x39 is not much more expensive and there...

    5.45x39 surprise ... S&W M&P ARs coming out ...

Lets say you shoot 5 times a year and shoot 200 rounds each time. That is 1000 rounds per year. Forget about that though, I look at it how much it costs to go shooting. $22 for 5.45 vs $66 for 5.56 each range trip. I wouldnt go for $66. I just want to be able to go shoot without paying $100...

    5.45x39 surprise ... S&W M&P ARs coming out ...

Supposedly the surplus available doesnt fragment like M193 and M855, but it yaws much earlier than either. M193 and M855 rely on velocity to fragment. The 5.45 doesnt rely on velocty as much to yaw so it seems like it might be a good choice in shorter barrels. For most people uses, who...

    5.45x39 surprise ... S&W M&P ARs coming out ...

Some people think of the future. Lets say you shoot 1000 rounds per year from your AR. At current ammo prices over 15 years that will be: $4500 for 5.56 at $300/1000 $1500 for 5.45 at $100/1000 So if a person was to look at the future and plan for it, and he had the money, he could buy...

    Close Range: 6.8mm vs. 5.45x39

5.45 is $100/1000 vs about $600/1000 for the 6.8. One idea is to stock up on a lifetime supply of the cheap 5.45 if you can afford it and not worry about when is the milsurp going to run out.
