Rem 1100 problem: spring jumps interceptor latch

Howdy. I've got a 1970-vintage Remington 1100 in 12 gauge. I am not the first owner and it was in tough shape when I picked it for a song 6 or 8 years ago. Lately, the interceptor latch spring has begun to jump out of its groove in the interceptor latch. When this happens, the feed cycle...

Questions about Gemini Customs work on the GP100.

Howdy. I know at least a few members here have sent off their Ruger GP100s to Gemini Custom for a slad-sided barrel treatment. Can any of you tell me if there was a measurable weight difference before and after the customer work? I love the GP100 but have always found them a bit muzzle...

AR shopping makes my head hurt. Help!

Hello. I know this comes up a lot and I did use the search function but I am utterly overwhelmed by the overpopulated AR marketplace. I need an AR and I need some direction. My main impetus for buying an AR in the first place is to play the three gun game. I just attended my first match in a...

What is going on with Glock extractors?

Okay I admit I do not follow Glocks that closely but I am interested in acquiring a Generation 3 Glock 19. I've been doing the research and noticed threads recently about faulty extractors. One of the few things that does appeal to me about Glocks is their boring consistency. Is there an issue...

Any police refurb Glocks in 9mm out there?

Hello. The title sort of says it all. Any of the wholesalers offering G17s or G19s right now? Thanks.

Weight diff. between 3" GP100 and 4" GP100 short shroud?

Title says it all. I have found one of each. The 3" is brand new. The 4" is the fixed sight, short shroud, bobbed hammer model that Century repatriated a few years back. If anyone has both, can you comment on the weight difference if any and any difference in handling? Thanks.

Price check on a 10mm Witness w/ extras

Howdy. I've been looking for a platform with which to try out the 10mm. Tried the Glock but in my hand it represented an ergonomic nightmare. I have stumbled across a lightly used EAA Witness in 10mm with 6 magazines (red followers). The package includes a .38 Super upper with 3 magazines. $550...

Price check on a ratty Marlin 39A

Hi. Title says it all, mostly. A local retailer with famously high prices has got a 1957 Marlin 39A rifle in its used rack. Price is four hundred ($400.00) bucks. The piece is missing its original rear sight and front sight hood. An earlier owner inlaid the forearm with some kind of fake ivory...

First rifle class: bolt or lever gun a mistake?

Howdy. I have the chance to take Pat Goodale's Tactical Rifle course this summer. I'm not in LE nor am I a military man. I'm just a person who would like to get some practical rifle training. My 'go-to' rifles are either a peep-sighted lever action Marlin 30-30 or a 30-06 sporter with low...

    Advice on a transaction, please.

First of all, moderators, if I am posting this in the wrong forum, please move it with my apologies for the inconvenience. Now, to the matter at hand. I am debating what to do about a custom holster for which I was billed in March, 2006 but have yet to receive. The manufacturer's name isn't...

Street price on a Remmy 1903A3?

That about says it all. I'm looking at a Springfield in really good shape. The parkerizing is greenish and in fantastic shape and the wood is blemish free except for a cartouche or two. The bbl. is bright and the rifling sharp. The stamp just aft of the front sight indicates the barrel was...

    What's a beater Rem. 1100 worth?

Hi everybody. Time for a Remington novice to come crawling to THR for some help. The local emporium has a used 1100 for sale and over the last six or eight months the price has steadily drifted downward. It was $350 and now it's right at $200. The gun has a 28 inch, ribbed, fixed modified...

    Price check on a S&W 64, please.

Local shop has had a late-seventies vintage Smith M64 .38 Spcl. on the shelf for a while now. Three-inch HB, round-butt, box and papers, never fired. So more or less NIB. They want four hundred. Seems way high. What do you folks think? Thank you.

Can anyone help: born on date for a Smith 36-7.

Howdy. I stumbled into a like new 36-7 for two hundred bucks. The vintage is almost academic given the price but I'm interested nonetheless. The S/N is BRV7***. Would this gun be +P rated? Any reason to avoid a cherry 36-7 for $200? Thanks in advance.

School me on the 870, please.

My local gun emporium has entirely too many used Wingmasters on their racks and I've thought of buying one. What should a guy look for in a used 870? Any sure signs that the gun will be trouble or a gem? Is there a particular vintage/serial number range I should pay attention to? Finally, what...

Bulking up the Mossberg 500. Or: how to add two pounds.

So lately I've been bitten by the Ithaca 37 bug. In the last four years I've picked up two great, old examples and hunted/shot the snot out of them. Everything their boosters say is right- they're lively, unbreakable and as pretty as a slide gun can be. Since buying them, the Mossberg 500 I...

Maybe it's time we torture test a revolver?

Title says it all. Anybody have a donor revolver? What kind of protocol (sp?) should we agree on? This ought to answer the questions that apparently nag a lot of us about the revolver's toughness. I HAD a ratty nickle Smith Bodyguard that would have been a good candidate but it went down the road.

Suggest an accurate, feather-light rimfire 'kit gun'.

Well, the title pretty much says it all. I'm looking for a compact .22 to stow in a backpack on hiking and hunting trips. Its function is very specialized. This is a piece I will use to finish wounded big game and pot small game if I am stranded and need the food. That last requirement, however...

Nightmare of a rimfire decision: CZ452 or Marlin 39M?

I'm not normally the kind of guy who needs advice on which gun to buy. I've tried a lot of things and I know what I like. But this last Christmas, I gave away my only .22 LR rifle to a dear relative and am now in the market for a replacement. I have two choices and I'm driving myself nuts trying...
