“Loose” J-Frame

Did they mention of it was a warranty repair? Usually if they supply the label and pay for shipping it is! Or was, I know shipping means have been changing a bit. Good luck, unless the frame is stretched it should be fairly straight forward. A little wear here, a little wear there and it multiplies making a gun seem sloppy. I have only sent one gun back to S&W over the years and it was a while ago. A 3” Model 65. It came back untouched. It was a blatant lack of accuracy as in a foot groups at 7 yards. In their defense they were not the only ones to not find anything wrong. Plenty of knowledgeable people, expert shooters and a few Smiths were puzzled also. But their service was polite and efficient. Let’s hope they give you a like new gun back.

As a side note early alloy frames Colts (Agent) had a recommended round count for it to be returned to the factory for a check and service. I wish I knew what they checked for. My guess is frame stretch. I have never expected my alloy frames guns to last as long as a steel counterpart. How many rounds under what conditions I do not know though. Good luck!
