Does anyone know the manufacturer of this revolver? The only markings are on the barrel, “Metropolitan Police” and then .32 S&W CTGE. Having locating a manufacturer or a date of manufacture. Thanks

The frame is definitely an Iver-Johnson "Cadet" (a.k.a. Model 5/55) type, a.k.a. the "Young American". H&R and I-J made thousands - perhaps millions? - combined between 1888 and the mid-1970's. The Cadet Model 55SA was still being made in .32Long and .38S&W as late as 1974. I recall there was a .38Spl Cadet but don't know the production numbers or dates.

Yours has the open loading notch as opposed to the loading gate so I'm going to defer to more knowledgeable folks and just say it "seems" to be pre-War 2 and made for the law enforcement market possibly post 1900.

Times like this I really miss Bill Goforth. :(

Your revolver is a rebadged H&R model 1904. H&R made a Metropolitan Police in .22 caliber too, based on their model 1906. It is not known for sure who these were manufactured for.

I messaged you about this.

With best regards,
Jeff
