I have a 30 Year old California Misdeameanor 245PC no weapon no domestic violence.

In Penal Code 12021(c)(1) it lists it as a ten year ban enacted 1991

However in Penacl Code 12021.1 It lists the same offense either as a felony or misdemeanor as a lifetime ban. Enacted 1982

When you go to fill out the California firearms DROS form it asks

Has purchaser ever been convicted of a felony or of an offense specified in penal code section 12021.1 or 12001.6 or convicted of assult battery or other misdemeanor offense specified in penal code section 12021(c)(1) in the last 10 years.

If you answer yes to that question you don't get the gun. So problem is even though 12021(c)(1) says 10 years for my offense I still have to answer yes to being convicted under 12021.1 so I can't get the gun.

Any ideas on what to do.

Is this an exact quote? If so, is there reason to believe that the "in the last 10 years" part doesn't apply to a three code sections, at least as phrased in the question? Still, I'd asked a better authority first.

I worked for a FFL in CA for a long time, you will most likly be prohibated.( 30 years ago might not be on the system)
