Socalbeachbum if there is a cabelas near you they may have a savage 12fv which goes for just over 400. It's a heavy 26" barrel, but its a blind magazine. Stock is not great but you would have a good action and heavier barrel to start. You could change the stock later and CDI (I believe) makes bottom metal for AICS mags for around 250.
