A month or so ago I decided to pony up the cash and get some Swift 180gr A Frame bullets. Man O Man are they some pricey bullets BUT they package them in foam in single holes to keep them from banging around. The appearance quality was very nice and I was impressed.
Load data was pretty hard to come by and as these bullets are longer than all other jacketed HP's of the same weight. I just went straight to 200gr data and went with that. I'm loading these bullets in 2 semi autos Glock Model 40 (22# spring, Vortex Venom Dot, and KKM barrel) and a Moriarti Arms 10mm AR pistol, Sig Romeo 5 red dot with a 10.5" barrel. I also plan to load these long in my S&W 610 revolver.
Well Today I got to shoot the test load I came up with in both semi autos.
13.0gr AA #9
180gr Swift A Frame
NEW Starline Case
CCI Large Pistol Magnum
COAL 1.260
I shot my Glock Model 40 at 25 yards and the POI is 1/2 higher than the bullseye. Velocity no idea but it ain't a weak load and the "pop" is very similar to my other 180gr load that goes 1300fps. VERY HAPPY!
AR pistol 10.5 barrel with the same load was shot at 25 yards and POI is roughly 1" high dead center. At 50 yards it was 3/4 high and maybe 1/4 inch left. VERY HAPPY! The load I'm estimating is going over 1400fps.
I have now got a load that is the exact same and will shoot to the same POI as my standard "do all" JHP load. These Swift bullets are designated for hunting only am I am positive they will perform just as advertised. Can't wait to get me a deer with both weapons now.
I will for sure have to load a few more and get some chronograph numbers next time I go shooting.
