Went to the range today to give my new 1100 a workout. I ordered the competition master 22" vent rib barrel from RemingtonI and fired in excess of 250 shells of shot and 25 rounds of 00 buck. It cycled great- no failures. I was curious to see if it would cycle light loads with the relatively short barrel than the 28" original barrel. The 22" was shipped with a modified Rem Choke. I wanted to try slugs, but was worried about the mod choke, I will be getting a IC choke shortly.

Some observations on the 22" VR barrel. It has the finish that is on the express and police Remingtons. It is not blued as the salesperson noted to me on the phone when I placed my order. Not the end of the world to me, but would appreciate a correct description when asking what finish it had.

The other observation is the front sight came loose later in the day. I tightened the screw that held it in place and stayed put the rest of the outing. The front sight is the fiber optic kind I generally see on turkey guns.

I bought this 1100 used. I was in great condition as far as I could tell. It is my first semi-auto shotgun and I love it:D

I do have two questions: Will Remington be able to tell the exact model this 1100 is with the serial? And will a Hogue 870 overmolded stalk fit in the rear?

Pic with 22" on and 28" for comparison
