Gearing up for spring turkey coming up here in NY, the other day I went over all of my stuff making sure i had the setup I wanted perfect, what will go in which pocket, and picked up a nicer pair of gloves since I wore out last years...
Then I got to my shotgun. Its an 1187 premier that I picked up from my best friends dad. At the time it was the only shotgun I saw anywhere that would fill everything on my wants list. It was an autoloader, 12 gauge, wood stock, and came with 2 barrels so I could use it for clays or deer hunting.
One was the barrel it came with stock:
2 and 3/4 only light contour, vent rib barrel, with rem choke.
The other:
2 and 3/4 or 3 inch, regular contour, cantilever, with rem choke. It has a shotgun scope mounted. Crosshairs for slug, and ring for pattern.
An interesting tidbit, my remchokes are the only ones Ive ever seen that extend past the barrel ever so slightly so that no tool is required. Maybe Im just lucky? Anyway I have Improved cylinder, Modified, Full, and Extended and Ported (Turkey).
But over the last couple of turkey seasons Ive gotten pretty sick of my scope. When hunting with others if someone shoots I often loose sight of the fast moving turks. Something that has never been a problem for me with iron sights. So I started to look for something that I could use instead... Thats when my search for a 2 and 3/4 or 3 inch, regular contour, rifle sight, rem choked barrel began. Enter remington product #29623. The perfect barrel. Discontinued. I have searched high and low for this barrel, at a price I can afford. It seems that everyone wants $200 for it. I just dont want to shell that out for a barrel when I know wally world carries an 870 turkey gun for only a hundred more.
Where on earth can you find this barrel for sale? Im assuming online somewhere, but I cant find it. I've seen it on some auction sites commanding nearly $250. GAHH... Im destined to the realm of shotgun scope hell.
TL;DR Where can I find a barrel from the title at an affordable price?
BIG EDIT: Wow, I should proof read before I post. Sorry about that one guys.
