12yo girl shoots home intruder

My only concern about this incident is for the girls hearing...

I'd hate to discharge a handgun in a closet with no ear protection.

Some of the folks on here are spot on, I cannot imagine any 911 person telling a 12 year old to arm themselves, they likely would have gotten her raped and/or killed.

Mom was right.

Apparently the girl was trained pretty well in my opinion. She made all the right decisions as per the results. Common sense and calm decisiveness trumps training IMO because the devil is in the details.

I used to work with a bunch of high profile university statisticians that said the robbers would just take your gun away from you and shoot you with it.

i live in southern,OK not too far from where this happened. the story in our paper today says he was homeless for 10dys and was hungry. then why was he trying to get into a closet in the bathroom? not usually any food in there. first report said he has prior arrest for assulting a 17yrd girl. i don't think he was there for food. good for you girl, you probably saved your life.

+1. From the reporting, it sounds like she wasn't home for a burglary, but was the target of the break in. Good resolution for what could have been a tragic situation.
