I was given some 147 grain 9mm hornadys. I am wanting to launch them fast, for possible hog and other live situations. It's not my first pick for hogs, but I carry the Glock 17 a lot. I like shooting it on a whim. I don't want to waste expensive carry loads. I have loaded off and on for years. Although every 9 I have ever loaded has been for paper and cans.
In my experience with 9mms the suggested lengths vary a lot. If I wasn't going for speed I would stick with my usual 1.120.
I have several target powders on hand, w231, bullseye, titegroup, and unique.
Of those, or buying a dedicated powder for faster 9mm, what loads and lengths have you had good results with? I use the word fast not hot. I'm looking for something as fast as store bought defense ammo. I'm not looking to make anything "special."
I'm returning to THR after some time away. I'm struggling to find much exact applicable data in the threads. If somebody finds one I apologize for missing it. Thanks in advance.
