I recently aquired 500 bullets which are 147gr m80 ball. I looked up the bullet, and it has some sort of bimetal or steel jacket with copper plating? They're definitely magnetic. I read they're safe to use though since the copper plating is thick.

There's a cannelure on it for 308 but I want to load them 30-06 to shoot thru my m1 Garand and m1903a3 Springfield. I can't find any load data for these. Is 150gr good for cross reference? I wasn't sure as the only 150gr I have in my book is for normal jacketed bullets, not steel/bimetal jacketed with copper plating. Any idea on a good COL? Just compare it to a normal 30-06 m2 ball round?

I have a bunch of varget, anyone have a good starting point? Thanks for the help.

morrow,

The M80's have been made of copper washed mild steel for a number of years. No problem using them. As you suspected, just use 150gr bullet load data. Ignore the cannelure, and load them as they work best for you. Don't expect much in regards to accuracy.
