1849 Colt pocket 3rd generation powder capacity

Don't have a pocket, but I do have a Baby Dragoon in .31. Holds about 15gr max and frankly, I've never looked for .31 conical or if there even is such a critter. I know this isn't the answer you needed but hope it helps some.

1962s are 36 cal and will do18 gr 3F, wad and a ball. I don't have a 3rd gen Colt 1849 but I think i only put 12 grains in my Uberti 1849.

How's accuracy outta these. Im very aware these aren't target pistols but would a 10 yard headshot on a squirrel be outta the realm of possibilities?

Not at all, I shot Ugly's after I worked on it, was remarkably accurate. I've just finished up the Uberti 1862 I acquired, hoping to shoot it this week.

My pocket police has excellent accuracy. The gun in question though is 1849 pocket 31 caliber of which I've never fired. I've seen on YouTube people with good accuracy. But I've also heard many numerous complaints about the accuracy of the gun mainly the Uberti 1849 and this being a colt third gen I'm sure it's similar

Actually Eras Gone Bullet Molds has a mold for a .31 conical bullet. It has the necessary rebated base to allow for loading in the cylinder without canting. As I recall, the molds are about 80 bucks.

I must admit, though, that the conicals did not perform all that well in my Uberti 1849 Wells Fargo revolver. But I do have to admit that I didn't work very hard at trying to coax more accuracy out of them.

As mentioned, 15 gr. is about max. I loaded 10 gr. FFFG and a .315 round ball for plinking; conicals were not popular for BP revolvers back in the 80's when I had my Baby Dragoon.
