I craft custom BP revolver full flap holsters that I occasionally share pictures of here. But right now only have my four Ruger Old Armys (three 7 1/2 inch adjustable sight, one 7 1/2 inch fixed sight---love them all) and my little NAA Super Companion. These aren't enough different model guns to meet the requests I have begun receiving at the art and craft shows my lovely Miss Penny and I participate in each fall.
I'm buying two Spanish Denix non-firing replicas (1860 Colt Army and 1851 Colt Navy)that I can use for holster patterning, molding and photography. I hope they are dimensionally accurate. I'm in need though of an 1858 Remington for the same purposes, and I don't see one made by Denix.
What's a good way to obtain a used, even non-working 1858 Remington revolver to use for patterning and photography folks? Ask here to buy a parts box "junker"? I may have a line on a brass frame Pietta specimen but the fella who has it seldom sells anything.
I plan to check Gunbroker soon but thought I'd ask here for suggestions first. Thank you. Don

Search GunBroker (check Item Description box and search again) for a brass framed 1858.

Find the cheapest one they have!

It may have been on there for awhile as this is probably the most purchased first time BP revolver.

Message the seller with the price you would like to pay for it.

Then keep your fingers crossed.

noelf2 ,,, In the USA, it is "Mold".

Next you'll be telling us " Colour " is spelt " color".

noelf I am in the USA/
Actually either form is acceptable here in the USA. No need to be a grammar nazi,

Oh, I thought you started it. :D

Tallbald maybe you can make a mold of someones Remmy. Anyway I keep looking for a broken example of an 1858. Nothing coming up.

"In the USA, it is "Mold"."

Oh? Only if the holster has "mold" on it.

Agree, I write it most of the time "mold" but if I was asked to spell the word out by someone I would always spell "mould" ,,, funny huh !!

So "mould" it is ,,,,for me anyhow ,

Next thing you know, we'll be hearing that 'aluminium' isn't spelled correctly. People give me crap all the time when I add the 'minium' at the end...but it just sounds better to me. Also 'Jaguar' is pronounced 'Jag-u-ar' rather than the American 'jagwar'. Why do Americans always want to try to simplify words? The English speak English better than we do.:)

Might as well add my 2 cents worth to the grammar class; I reload and on a lot of reloader sites they call cast bullets/slugs boolets, took me awhile to figure what they were talking about!

I wanted to share here that I was able to buy back a brass frame Remington copy from a friend I sold it to maybe 4 years ago. $100. I've posted a couple questions earlier this evening too. here's a photo of my back-new-to-me Pietta. Sure is well made and handsome. Thanks everyone again. Don

here's how I felt when I re-assembled it and wiped it down. Man my ears look tiny.
