Found someone making the LER scope mounts that replace the rear sight, but I'd really like to keep the original proportions of this stubby little rifle.

I see pictures of them online with receiver mounted Lyman type sights but I have no idea which model will fit, with what modifications, and what front sight will work for it.

Does anyone have experience with one of these little guys?

I'm not worried about collector value, as it was my grandpas rifle and therefore will never be sold, and I'd love to be able to put it to use!

It LOOKs like a Williams 5D-JEM sight will fit on the Argentine. You can probably get different hight front sight inserts, or make them, to raise the blade enough to work. I know on my arisaka i had to take the front sight off and use a 03 sight to increase blade height.

I tried a check-fit for the 5D-JEM on an '89 ('16) Belgian artillery carbine and a '91 Argentine sporter and it should fit either.
I wouldn't do it to any of mine, though. The Belgian is as-issued and the Argy came scoped.

Thanks guys. I had seen elsewhere that the tall front sight inserts available for the Swedish Mauser should work with a peep rear.

I may end up just leaving it as is. I dunno.
