I have a nice shooting 1911 based pistol frame, and I use a Marvel 22 LRconversion with it. I use a red dot sight with the Marvel.
I want to use a red dot scope with the 45 acp upper and shoot some centerfire matches.
I know Bullseye shooters switched from grip mounted scopes to slide mounts, and now I see more frame mounts.
It would be nice to use a slide mount so the Marvel unit would not be affected.
Anyone have any input on the merits of either type scope mount?

Barrel/slide alignment is much more of the accuracy equation than is the frame/slide fit; ergo, the red dot (or scope) belongs on a slide mount. UltraDots are guaranteed for life, so the battering the dot takes is not an issue. Only significant consideration is the change in the recoil feel - you do notice that extra mass up on top but can quickly get used to it.

BTW, RRA has a new, very nice scope rib.
