Greetings to all; I am looking for input to an issues about shell casings stove piping in my SA 1911. The gun ran perfectly until a Alchin red dot mount was installed. The red dot sight and mount were installed for steel plate shooting. Now while doing rapid fire about one out of every eight to ten rounds stove pipes. I have replaced the original SA ejector with an EGW extended ejector. Going by instructions from two different smiths and manufactuers, the ejector lenght was first trimmed to a length of .125. This length is supposed to be adaquate to allow ejection of a loaded round in order to show clear. The extractor has been tuned up and has been running perfecr. There is evidence of the casing striking the bottom of the Alchin red dot mount. I have operated by making slight adjustments to the new ejector with a file. Objective was to angle the ejector face to an angle so that the shell is forced out to the side not up. A second angle was placed to make sure that the shell strikes the top of the ejector. It has improved but, the problem is still there. It is my understanding that the extractor determines where the casing lands, and the ejector determines when the case leaves the gun. Any guidance or tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance

It only started doing it after you put the mount on top? Could have added enough weight that the slide doesn't go back quick enough to send the spent casing out before it closes again? Just a suggestion.

If that were the case you would probably need a lighter recoil spring.

I re read your post and saw that you have your extractor being hit by a shell?

problem is simple you added weight to the slide , which effect the speed of the slide, try installing a lighter recoil spring

Thanks for the reply. I am currently running a 12# recoil spring. If I remove the Alchin mount the gun runs beautiful. There is no doubt the spent shell is striking the bottom of the mount. No marks on ejection port. Port was lowered and flaired.
