I just got a brand new Rock Island Armory 1911. It shoots nice enough, but of course it can be made to shoot better. To this end I'd like to have a Wilson Combat match grade bushing installed in it. I already bought the bushing, but it's much too tight to install by myself. To this end I need to find a gunsmith who can turn it down to fit without breaking my bank.

My calipers indicate the original is .6974", and the new one is .7021".

This will be an easy fix. Contact the boys @ robar guns in phoenix and they can handle this task for you--their prices are shown on their internet site. Any other concerns, please contact me--i live in sealy, texas.

Thanks. At $80 I might as well have Scottsdale Gun Club do it, since they charge $70 and I'm a member there. Was just wondering if there was anyone cheaper who did quality work.

PLEASE FORGIVE ME SIR, IF I SOUND RUDE, BUT YOU WILL NOT FIND QUALITY WORK DONE AT A CHEAP PRICE !!!!!

I HAVE 20 YEARS EXP TURNING & REAMING BARREL BUSHINGS FOR 1911 PISTOLS. THE COST OF THE BUSHING IS $15.00 FOR A STAINLESS STEEL MADE TO NM SPECIFICATIONS (oversized OD & undersized ID). THE BUSHING MUST BE TURNED DOWN TO FIT THE ID OF THE SLIDE & THE ID OF THE BUSHING MUST BE REAMED TO FIT THE OD OF THE BARREL. LABOR: $60.00, BUT YOU WILL END UP WITH A BUSHING INSTALLATION THAT WILL REDUCE THE CTC GROUP SPREAD BY 50%.

SIR THE CHOICE IS UP TO YOU, BUT CHOOSE WISELY WHO WILL DO THE WORK & BACK IT UP WITH AN ACCURACY WARRANTY.

BTW: MY BUSHING INSTALLS ALSO INCLUDES A PRECISION MUZZLE CROWN AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE !!!!

Nelson Ford "The Gunsmith" http://www.thegunsmith.com/thegunsmith.html - been doing 1911 work for over 20-years and very well known around the valley. Probably built more 1911's in Phoenix than any man alive.

Tell him Karl the Crank sent you.

While Scottsdale Gun Club may do good work, you will pay through your nose for the privilege of helping them get rich, and Robar will make SGC look cheap.

DO NOT let him catch your staring at the large, oozing, purple growth on his neck. Fixate your gaze on the counter.
And DO NOT use the word 'short' in any context.

He's the best!

Large, oozing purple growth on his neck? Uh. . .

And DO NOT use the word 'short' in any context.

Or if he says, "I am not happy", respond, "Then which one are you?" :)

Scottsdale Gun Club is $70
Robar Guns is $80
The Gunsmith is $69.

I think I'll go with Scottsdale Gun Club. They know me out there, and I've had them do minor work for me before.
