I have an 80 Series Ultimate Stainless Gold Cup which is screaming for a pair of ivory grips. Can anyone recommend a reputable seller?

Yes. I can't find his email address, but go to Gunbroker & look up CT GUNSMITHING. I bought some absolutely beautiful 1911 grips from him about 3 months ago.

If you buy from him, please let him know that SHOOT1SAM recommended him.

Oh yeah. Figure $500 or more a set by the time you get them fitted and polished. Most if not all of the ivory grips you get these days are from decades old tusk The stuff is like gold.. I've been shopping for a couple of sets just because I cant find good REAL mother of pearl grips and screw plastic. Can't be a pimp without Mother of Pearl.

I couldn't afford them 20 years ago either.

But I just lucked into a shoe box full of old ivory at an estate sale for $20 bucks.

And made my own, as well as 3 mag bumper pads.

I see where Boone Trading, being in Washington state, will be out of the elephant ivory business as of Dec. 1. There are a bunch of grips on gunbroker under "1911 ivory grips". Price starts at $325. Some of the sellers have been on GB for a long time, should be safe...

I have a set of white linen (not canvas!) micarta grips on my Colt. "Aged Westinghouse micarta" is another nice color. It's not quite as attractive as ivory but it has interesting grain and can be polished to a nice "warm" texture. In addition they cost less than 70 bucks. :)

These are from CT Gunsmithing, off Gunbroker. Ivory for a 1911 should be around $300, not $500. Single action grips are around $500, up to $800-$900 for the larger/longer grip frames like the Bisley, 1860 or Dragoon/Walker.
