I recently inherited a sporterized 1941 Husqvarna 6.5mm and can't get it to shoot straight. From what I read it may be an M38?

I put a new scope on it and blue loctited the original base and rings. It shot well for 5 or 6 rounds and then bounced all over the place.

I'd ordered a Leupold base and rings for a 96 mauser but the rear base does not fit.

Are there any recommendations of what bases would fit?

I've gone down this road with other rifles and found that a solid base and rings make all the difference.

Thanks

There is nothing inherently wrong with a 2-peice base, if they fit the receiver, and are properly mounted.

You might be barking up the wrong tree, and you might just have a bad scope.

As for finding a modern 1-peice base?

It's unlikely you will find one with the proper hole spacing.
There was no 'standard' hole spacing for putting on 2- pieces bases on military rifles back then.

Many if not most were eyeballed into place and drilled where it looked like they should go.

So front & rear ring hole spacing can be all over the place.

Thanks,

They sure do look like they were eyeballed when they drilled them :)

I'd thought about the scope being the issue as well....just not willing to take one of my Nikon's off another rifle until I've exhausted all other options.

Go buy a cheap Bushnell at Walmart for $29.95.

It should last long enough to prove whether it's the scope or not.

Normally I would never recommend that.

But with today's ammo prices, that's cheaper then taking a scope off another rifle, and then having to sight it back in when you put it back on.
