Have a 12ga that I inherited 15 years ago new from family member in Alaska. It's a 26in IC S&W 3000. Came in original box with all paperwork and owners manual. The gun is beautiful and it functions flawlessly. Says it was made in Japan for S&W.
These seem rare, yet top quality in looks, and function

The S&W Model 3000 was made for S&W by Howa of Japan.
After S&W dropped it, they were sold by Mossberg for a few years, also as the Model 3000,
After Mossberg dropped them, they were sold under the Howa name as the Model 3000.
They also made a semi-auto as the Model 1000 sold by all three.

The Model 3000 was a close copy of the Remington Model 870.
For a few years it had a cult following among cops, but very few agencies bought it, staying with the Remington 870.
Ultimately the Model 3000 didn't sell, simply not having enough to offer over the better known Remington.
The guns themselves were very nice quality and stand up well to hard use.

At one time Havlin Sales had all the parts under both S&W and Mossberg names. Possibly they still do.
Currently Gun Parts Corp has parts.

I liked the S&W Model 1000 I shot in training. I eventually bought a Mossberg 930. It wasn't as nice in my opinion. I sold it but sometimes I regret it.

We sold several 1000s in the 70s. They looked like 1100s but definitely weren’t. Also, the 916 pump was cheap but kept guys in the duck blinds in 20 ga when they couldn’t or wouldn’t buy steel.

We sold a ton of S&W shotguns and long guns in general, so we could get allocations of then scarce handguns, especially the ones in the Big Box, the N frames. We once got a shipment of 916s in for a big sale. We never got one back with a malfunction, and we sold hundreds.

IMO the 3000 is an excellent pump gun.

I got a 20ga 1000 with a 28" Mod barrel and a second 26" IC barrel. In a period of poverty I sold it to a friend, and sold it too cheap. I've tried for 15 years to pry it away from him. He says "at no price". It's his wife's favorite gun.
