Not a yay or nay rant about gun shows ...

Backstory: I live in a very rural area consisting of 6 counties, mine is the largest at ~35,000 population. Every couple of years the the neighboring town (population 4,200+/-) has a Rotary Club sponsored gun show. It's been 5+ years since I went to the last, so grandson on I went last weekend. No charge parking, $10 entry for me, grandson free. By my best count, a dozen vendors, including jewelry and aromatherapy. New stock, nice variety of pistols, revolvers, modern sporting rifles, shotguns, antiques. Decent prices, no evidence of outright gouging.

G'son and I made the rounds in about 20 minutes. "eh, you ready to go?" sez I. "Sure" he agreed. Heading to the door a square plastic powder bottle beckons me, marked XMP 5744. Full, sealed [Side note, 5744 is my favorite for .45-70 AND works for .45 Colt], the only one. For the unheard of price of $20. I got a twinge of carpal tunnel getting my wallet out fast enough and walked out with it bagged.

The only other I've seen in 6 months was $35-ish + $$ shipping + $$$ hazmat when available. My cheeks are sore from grinning in my little world. A later inquiry to Accurate Powders confirmed XMP 5744 is exactly the same as AA 5744.

Went to the one here in Dayton and walked out empty handed. On my way up to Cleveland I stopped at the Fin and picked up a lb of Blue Dot for $38. Wasn’t the best price I ever paid but if I ordered that lb online it would of been more…

Yea, making memories with your grandson is worth every minute spent there.
