2 or more of the same rifle

(Sometimes a deal is too good to pass up) thats my main reason for getting it.glad to see others have done the same....

Great Grandpa would tell us "If one nail is good....two is better". Same hold true for guns.

I have to admit that I did that with M1 Garands. Let me see, you have to have at least one from Winchester, International harvester, Springfield Armory, and Harrington & Richardson. Then you have to have a pre-war Springfield. Then you have to get a broad range of representative serial numbers. Then you have to get a sniper.

I am thankful that the M1 bug was finally cured.

Sound familiar to anyone.

I certainly have more than one of some handguns; rifles not so much. I believe I have one duplicate with rifles and it's a 22. But I would probably not pass up a very good deal if I really like a particular rifle and I have the loose money. Is there ever too many?

2 or more of the same rifle
Yes.
Two M1 Garands.
Nine or ten M1/2 Carbines (I have to take a count)
Two Bushmaster M4 types and two other AR brands.
Two 03A3 and A4. Same rifle but one has a scope mount.

Many duplicate handguns but the most of one kind is 16 Makarovs.

rifles, no but pairs yes

two S&W K-17s
two S&W model 66s
would have had two Colt Gov'mt 380s if my buddy had not beat me to it
been tempted many a time to own two SP101s
he has two same 9mm and two same Browning A-bolts

man has to sometimes work long & hard to find what is "just right"
as the gals might say it, you gotta' kiss a lot of frogs to find a prince
and pairs wear out slower than singles, doncha' know

once you do find it, why fight it ??

Define the same rifle?

I have four Mosin Nagants.

1932 Finnish M27

1937 Tula 91/30 with a PU scope (not original, I know, but I paid a lot less too)

1942 Tula 91/30

1952 Polish M44

My g/f does say "Don't you already have one of those?" when I look at another, but she was there when I bought my most recent and did not object. I just tell her that each of the different Mosin models have differences and I have to collect the whole set!

I thought it would be bad form NOT to have at least 2 of everything! Besides, it's PC to own more than one! I have heard is said that "2 is 1 and 1 is none", so I figured I had better conform. 5 Glock 9mm's, 14 .303 Enfields, etc.

For defensive firearms, I have at least two of a particular make/model - rifle, pistol, or revolver. I practice with one and rotate them out every now and then to minimize wear.

For plinkers/shooters I may or may not have duplicates.

2 or more of the same rifle
Does anyone have more than one of the same exact gun, & if so, why?i have a chance to buy another of the same rifle, same caliber,& its a real great price, otherwise it doesnt seem to make sense, other than its one i really like a lot.

While I do have quite a few of the same general kind of guns like AR's and 1911's they are all a little different had configured to specific jobs.
I do have a set of twins, these Vaquero's in .357 mag.

I could see justifying two identical pistols if you wanted one to carry and one to leave in the car.

At this point, my "collection" stands at three. I can't imagine doubling up for anything but a completely practical need.

One reason is collecting, as mentioned.

The other reason is as a true backup to use, with identical ergos, ammo, etc., either for hunting, or self-defense.

When I "finish" my DPMS LR260-L, I intend to start building a 2nd one just like it. :)

There is a member here that said he buys 2 of the same firearm every time he buys anything. I believe he went by the name "cheese" or something like it. Haven't seen him around for a while though, he would be a good one to chime in here.

Paging cheese...

Some started out as spare parts that turned into "spare" rifles, while others were picked out like that for a purpose. (one is none, 2 is one, etc.....)

The average difference is optics.
