does the ban on having a higher shell capacity than 5 with a telescoping /pistol grip stock exsist today. march 09? are there any conditions concerning this rule? like location or before a certain date or after a certain date ...? second question is which of the m4 models has the heavy gauge bbl? 1014 or 11707, etc. i am "almost" sure the heavy bbl model comes with one choke installed(1014) instead of the model that comes with 3 chokes i believe. my m4 came with one choke installed in it but it does seem to have visible knotches for removal. for all i know , maybe my choke does'nt come out. i have not tried. i have to look to see if it came with a choke wrench. i cut out the label off the box but i must try to find it to be sure what model designation it is. it has a "tm" marking on the bbl and a "y01" prefix for a serial number. i figured the wright person would be able to resolve these questions for me. would be great to know the differences in these models as they have evolved. anything i can learn would be great. i can not find a running chart any place. seems the info on the benelli forum is sparatic at best and it seems hard to get all parts of these questions answered at one time. believe me i tried.

I can only help you with the first part of your question, since the FEDERAL AWB was repealed, it is up to your local state regulations.

Here in CT, you can't have two or more "EVIL" features, for example, you can hava an extended magazine, a pistol grip style stock, or a telescoping stock by themselves, if you have two or more the gun suddenly transforms itself into an ASSAULT WEAPON... really stupid.....

CT also has a "catch all" law that says you can't even have two of the components, they don't even have to be installed (intend doesn't matter).

Check your local gun laws, a five minute search on your state's "official" website can save you a lot of misery down the road.

As far as the second part of your question, I'm sure more folks will be along that know far more than me...

Florida... a very helpfull , informative thread waterhouse. i thank you much for it. looks as if the benelli +2 will have to go for sale. got it for a song from a person who" needed cash yesterday" according to him so it's not gonna hurt to sell it for what i hear they are going for lately. i most definately choose to keep the telesc stock on this sg. the 8 shell mesa carrier on it more than makes up for shell capacity. Thanks gentlemen.

If only alchohol - tobaco & firearms were a convienance store...

There is no heavy barrel model, the fixed modified choke barrel was rumored to be thicker but there was a thread on the Benelli forum where some guys measured the barrels all the way down and they were the same all the way to the near the muzzle, at that point the barrel with the screw in chokes swelled up a bit to allow the chokes inside.

Now there was a once optional 4 port barrel, they are usually marked “low recoil only” and can also be identified by looking into the chamber end of the barrel to see the ports just past the chamber inside the barrel (2 holes = good / 4 holes = bad), these 4 port barrels were meant for extremely light loads only but that wasn’t understood by most and Benelli didn’t make it very clear so when people used heavy loads they would over stress and break the gas pistons as well as deform the bolt carrier, 4 port barrels are no longer offered by Benelli and Benelli has been replacing them with 2 port barrels as they surface.

The only other barrel differences that I know of is the newer barrels have a ring flange just behind the chamber for extra bracing of the barrel at the front of the receiver.
