2009 Oklahoma Bucks

My trip to OK for muzzleloader season was somewhat of a let down in that I only brought home a doe, but I did see plenty of young bucks that have potential to be really nice. I made a return trip for OK rifle season and tagged my second largest buck ever. He is main frame 8 point that gross scores 153".


Here is one my Dad killed on opening weekend of muzzleloader season. He is an 8 point that gross scores 148".

Very nice, what area of the state are you hunting. Here is my son's and mine. The one on the left is my 11 now 12 year old's, shot last year on his first deer hunt. 260lbs in NW Oklahoma, mine is the smaller 10 point shot in 2006 SE Oklahoma. The one with the boy is my nephew shot this year on his first deer hunt, same place NW OK it weighed 177lbs

I was thinking of this thread when I got to let 2 bucks walk on me this morning. I'm not supposed to get my 2nd one till the other hunters get one or quit, so I watched one of the largest 12 pts I've seen walk, and a nice 9 pt stay within shooting distance (with a bow, never mind that I had a rifle) for damn near 40 minutes, eating, rubbing, scraping, etc...

Can't wait till bow season, I can go about my merry way again.

One of the great hunting secrets in Oklahoma is the Fort Sill Army reservation. I used to take bucks regularly when I was stationed there in the 60s.
