Kid’s first deer. X-bolt Micro in 6.5CR, 143gr ELDX. She outshot all the boys on this youth hunt…I was very proud! Good shoulder shot, deer was DRT

Awesome. Good for you getting her out and helping her. It is great seeing youngsters hunting. More so being young ladies

This deer has become my afternoon buddy. He is very used to people and isn’t super skittish. I call him Sticky. I could hunt him, but I think I’m gonna let him grow another year. He’s still young.

Squirrel season opened up a couple days ago around me, heres a nice big grey

Storytime:
Went for a run this morning and needed a shower

So there i was... Almost nekkid for a shower and I look out across the field to see Mr Coyote trotting west...

So I grab my trusty rifle, slip on my slippers and head outside. I poke my muzzle through the chain link and lead him just a bit. I guestimate elevation...

One shot and he's down.

Head out there and find him like this:


I tied a string to his back legs to drag him out of the field and when I lifted him up to find the hit, all his insides started sliding out of the entry hole.



No exit hole at all.

I am guessing distance was 200-250 yards.

Was hoping to put at least one post into this years hunting picture thread. Got one to post from my recent hunting trip to S. Carolina, which I posted in the "Anyone else have the itch" hunting thread, while forgetting about the 2023 Hunting Pictures. Oh well; I will stick it in here, too. Just a small buck that wandered out 60 yards from me after I was watching deer several hundred yards away down a power line right of way for a couple days. It was the second last day of the 4 day hunt and I was eager to fill a tag. .. My son & step daughter were hoping for some venison so here it is, along with a doe that I got on our last day. Now my goal is to post a few more deer pictures here before the end of this year. Plan on some deer hunting with the muzzle loader, the cross bow, the rifle, and the 12 ga. slug gun depending on which zone I'm in and what happens to be legal at that time. Having a great 2023 season so far.

Was fortunate to get one in the freezer 4 days into archery/crossbow season. Came in right before sundown. Was a really exciting ground hunt. Hunting our super thick cedar wetlands. She came in to less than 5 yards. Crazy fun evening.

The ugly rifle strikes again. Two dead in the field. Two more that died in the woods I’m sure. 6.5 Grendel at ranges from 175 - 300 yards.

Looks like a blue grouse. Moose are all over the place when you don't have a permit.
Beautiful high country.

Yeah Pato we talked to some moose hunters from Bozeman the last day. They were struggling to find a bull, had seen 6 cow moose that morning already and had been all over not finding bulls. We saw 7 bulls in 5 days while looking for elk including 3 very near where they were camped. We gave them all the info we could, hope they get one. I bet they will, they weren’t novices. Just having a bit of a bad luck streak with the bulls
