Hey All

I'm looking for a good tack driving 22 bolt with a set of mil style peep sights on it. I know I probably can retro a rifle to put them on but would prefer something good out of he box. I would consider a semi or other action if it is accurate.

Any ideas?

ThankS!

CMP sells .22cal target rifles with peep sights, but they're high. Best I can tell, most bolt guns can be fitted with an aperture sight like a Lyman #57 or Williams FP (Fool Proof). Then it'd be a matter of getting a front sight to fit if it didn't come with one.

I mentioned the Lyman #57 because the 1920's National Match M1903 Springfield had a Lyman #48 which was predecessor to the #57.

Mossberg 44 may be what you are looking for. CMP used to sell them but ran out a year or two ago, I think the price has tripled since then.

Very nice rifles, bolt action, mag-fed with a bull barrel and target aperature sights. Mine shoots itty-bitty groups with the right ammo.

Thanks guys

I'll have to see what CMP has. I'm looking for something to mimic the sight picture of a Garand, so I should have thought of the CMP first!
