Just finished this conversion of a Montgomery Ward Hercules shotgun into a .22 Hornet. The rear sight is mostly a place-holder; it's not really suited to this application. I'm going to see if I can come up with (or fabricate) a peep-sight.

I basically sleeved a barrel into the chamber of the shotgun, cut the chamber for .22 Hornet and made a new extractor. I also made a new forearm out of Walnut attached the locking lug for it from the old barrel to the new barrel. The front sight is a Mini-14 front sight that's been in my gunsmithing junk box that just happened to fit this barrel perfectly. I'm also considering perhaps doing some kind of cheek-piece for the stock. It's very handy and at under 6 lbs it's not too heavy.

Cool project! Is that a Mini-14 front sight I see?

Nodak Spud used to make a nice sturdy aperture for the round profile on H&R handi-rifle. I put one of those on my custom .38 Super barrel where it works a treat.

Since it looks like you've cut a dovetail into the stub, maybe one of these would be worth tracking down:
