I'm considering having a T/C 10" bull barrel converted from .22 Hornet to .22 K-Hornet. Does anybody here shoot the K-Hornet? How well does it work? I'm more interested in better accuracy and case life than I am with increased velocity. Any insights, observations, etc. are greatly appreciated!

I have a Handi Rifle in 22 Hornet and was thinking of doing just that. I will also be interested in what the real world gains would be and if it is worth the expense to do this.

The gunsmith I talked with told me that there would be longer case life and an increase in bullet velocity but that an increase in accuracy in the K chamber is unlikley. At times a rifle was given a tune up when rechambering to the K which improver the accuracy of the rifle.

I have a Bullberry 12" K-Hornet barrel for my Contender. I love it. I think that there is more potential for accuracy because it's easier to get positive headspacing on the K-Hornet's pronounced shoulder. As far as case life goes, they might last somewhat longer with the K-Hornet, but I still get quite a few split necks - they are very thin.

Thanks for the replies. I'm seriously considering going ahead with this conversion, as a local gunsmith said he can do it for next to nothing. And all of my .22 Hornet brass can be shot through the new barrel to convert it.
