That's all true MistWolf. It's also true that he said he was looking for a bolt action which means a barrel that length shouldn't be hard to find. It's a common length for Savage barrels especially. One thing I see as significant here is he states he is looking for another 1:8 twist barrel because he wants it to match his AR so he can use the same bullets. That's not really going to happen that way. As you say every barrel is different and just because the rated twist numbers are the same it doesn't mean the barrels will do best with the same ammo. There are many other factors involved just as you suggest. The only way to know what bullets a barrel will like is to try different bullets until you find one it likes.
