I went out on Tuesday and tested some of my 50 gr blc2 loads. The temperature was 42 degrees, overcast, and had a 10-15 mph wind from almost 11 o'clock.

Start charge was 26.9 end charge 28.0 gr. No pressure signs from max charge, but got smallest groups with 27.5 to 27.8 gr charge weights. Sorry no pics left my phone home. But each charge were bug holes. I will have to go out again to verify results.
I'm set with cfe223. It's too the base of the case neck.
I've killed 1 coyote and 3 crows in the last week. Farthest Crow was about 330 yards. Coyote was 150.

If you use the light bullets made for the 22 Hornet with thin jackets those will come apart at high velocities. That is where the reports of bullets spinning apart come from.
I've heard that. But I've run there 35gr VMAX at 3500 in a 1-12 and 3300 in a 1-8 and haven't had them come apart. I quit shooting them because because they are like a wiffle ball.
I've also run the 40 gr Bee bullet with similar results.
I wonder how many people have had issues with that since bullet technology has gotten better.

I loaded a bunch of Nosler 40gr balletic tips with Benchmark. Found a going-out-of-business sale on the bullets and bought them dirt cheap. They are OK and I've killed lots of prairie dogs with them, but really prefer my 50 and 55gr bullets for consistency. I finally quit loading for speed and focus on consistent accuracy instead. I've found several different powders that work.

One of these days I would like to build a heavy barrel 223rem ar-15. I like the 50-55 223 bullets. Dad and me built one when I was a kid and he keeps talking about doing another one. Funny thing he sold that gun because it got to boring, it would do 1/4 pretty easy. I remember I would shoot the thumb tacks holding the targets,

Can't remember all the parts used but I know it was a dpms upper, with a colt comp 24'' heavy barrel. Colt comp lower, with a very nice canjar trigger. Think it was a colt round tube. But I think I would do a wide charger, or at least a billit upper for the added rigidity. A good grade 24'' 223 barrel none threaded my try a bca there under $100.

I like the round tube handguard, there pretty cheap these days. A adjustable gas block, one with the pic on it but think that maybe hard to find.
