I have several pounds of BL-C(2), I plan on loading 223Rem 53gr sie hp and 55gr fmj. One manual has a start load of 26,0gr with 28.0 max ( which over flows the case). Another manual has 25.8 start and 26.6 max. Haven't looked at the 55gr data yet. Which data should I use? These loads will be used in ar-15 16"bbl and a Ruger American 16"bbl.

I load 25.8 gr. of BL-C(2) with 55 gr. FMJ, 55 gr. Ballistic Tip Varmint, or 55 V-Max and get very good accuracy out to 200. (as far as I've shot them.) My son shot lots of deer with the 55 V-Max and that load.

Find the volume of the case they tested vs the volume of the case your using. Another useful thing may be to look at 223 and 556 data to determine how low you can really go. If the listed load overflows the case, you may want to figure out a 90% load density. That often gives good results.

Thanks for all the replies. If I work up loads in the summer 90-100 f would the temperature sensitive issues be a problem in cooler weather 460 f?

The big thing about temprature fixed powders is that hopefully the changes don't take you out of the accuracy node. Loads developed at a maximum tempratures will be safe in the cold, but may fall out of the accuracy node....

I don't think you will have any cold weather problems. At least I've not noticed any.
26.5gr of BL-C(2) has consistently been my most accurate load for 52-55gr bullets, 53gr Sierra Match King with that and a CCI450 is pretty much my benchmark 100 yd load. Multiple barrels and configurations.
This load is very accurate for me too. The only thing is that its 300+ feet slower than lots of other powders. Prairie Dogs don't seem to know the difference!

When shooting something as small as that, accuracy is BY FAR number one! I'm sure they still vaporize on impact. lol

I trust Hodgdon load data more than any other. For an AR with a 5.56 chamber, I typically start right in the middle of the load range. This method guarantees that the load has enough gas to run the action.

I use 26.5 gr of BL-C(2) for 55 grain M193 bullets and get about 2800 fps. The .223 cases are pretty full, but not compressed. I think I’d have a hard time getting 28 gr into the case.it’s so hot in summer I rarely shoot my M-4 so my load is optimized for cooler weather. It really doesn’t get cold here.

another 26.5 here as well. used them from 45-90 degree ambient. since I never shoot them more than 200 yards. POI vs POA change is negligible.
