1000 yards
Still more info needed.
What size targets are you trying to engage, are you shooting for fun, competition, etc?

Personally I do very little shooting past 300-400yds, for that I like scopes with power ranges from 2-16. The little shooting i do beyond that Ive actually appreciated having more power, my mark AR that was on my grendel was a 6-18, and on clear days i used the 18 power when plinking past my rangefinders useable range.

If your going to dial your shots in, reliable, repeatable adjustments are high on the list of needs.

to help picking a scope, we need info as others have stated. I

Budget. . . .I bet there are people on THR with recommendations for scopes ranging from $80 to $3,500.

type of shooting: informal targets/steel on your own? varmints? medium game (deer/pigs), precision rifle competitions, etc. . . . .

do you want to dial for wind and elevation or hold? (shooting at 1000 and holding is gonna be sporty IMO).

Military application has very, very little to do with what really makes sense for 1,000yrd shooting.

It’s just as easy to use real-world evidence to prove MORE magnification is needed by looking at various competition formats - a 20x top end is low on a 1,000 benchrest firing line, most guys will run with their scope between 12-16x for precision rifle competition, only cranking to their 21-35x top end magnification for prone troop line stages on the really long shots.

Personally, I prefer to be 16x or higher and do most of my shooting over 20x at 1,000.

As stated we need to know what your application and budget is.

A good place to start would be the SWFA fixed 10, 12, or 16 power scopes. Really good value for the money. The higher your budget, the better the options generally

a 6-20+ range paralax adjustable as expensive as you can afford. With that power range a good set of off set iron sights like Duek Denfene makes and you can do the up close shots very easily.

The new Primary Arms 3-18 has been getting really good feedback on the reviews i have seen. It is due out soon and would be worth a look as they offer some of the best value optics out there. It will list for $499

I like 20X plus for 1000. 14-15 is decent anything less and the target needs to be big.

I can only afford a quality optic that goes to about 20X, it takes a lot of money for clarity out past 20-24X.
