I'm installing a Bear Creek 243 pencil barrel in a Caverns Armory receiver. With a little work I can get a 0.001" shim between the barrel extension and the receiver for a snug fit.
Is there a big benefit in going to a 0.002" shim for a slight interference fit? Is there a recommended oven temperature/heat soak for the upper?
I've done similar work on a larger scale replacing bearings on close-coupled seawater pumps, but I suspect the requirements are not the same.
