Not sure if this should be black powder or rifles but figured it would get the most hits here.

I'm looking at the 265gr FTX bullet for my 50cal optima with blackhorn209. I have had issues with the 250sst not giving an exit but that could be due to old pellets from the year before.

anyone use this bullet and hows performance on whitetail deer?

Those will certainly give an exit, however they might not expand either as they are designed for Hornady's .444 Marlin loads which travel much faster than the standard stuff. I know an inline with a bit more powder goes faster than a sidelock but I'm not sure it'll go the speed needed, especially down range. Hornady used to show the velocity range for those to work but since changed the format. Could email them and see if you have any idea how fast you can push it.

Maybe try the 300 grn SST. The added weight would likely give better penetration. I also hear bore sized Thor's do well. I assume you are looking for an aerodynamic projectile.
