A friend bought one of those Russian made double rifles in 30-06. We both agreed that it needs round nose boolits to capture the feel of a double. I found load data in my Hornady manual for their 150 grain RN pills. I stuffed some with IMR 4350 in the mid range loading. The book claims 2700 fps on the load I chose. This is about 500 fps faster than the 30-30 velocities this bullet was I assume designed for. Anybody ever use this combo on white tails? I guess I'm a little nervous of the bullet holding together. Hornady must think it will. Before I am flamed for not loading high BC super spritzers or 200 gr monsters, this guy is a white tail hunter who thinks if he can keep 3 shots on a pie plate at 100 yards it is an accurate rifle, and just wants to be able to kill deer at "North Woods" ranges of nose to nose out to at most 100 yards. By the way, it looks like kind of a cool rifle and am looking forward to trying it out.
